Using the Template Editor
Overview of Template Editor
This document offers step-by-step guidance on modifying both Organization Level and Due Diligence Inspection templates.
Specifications
The Inspection & Audit Management Web Application is compatible with the following desktop browsers:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Safari
MS Edge
Note: MS Explorer is not supported
Administrative permissions may be necessary for template edits.
Step 1: Log In to the Web App
Navigate to https://inspect.sightplan.com.
Choose your company from the provided Organization List
Step 2: To view an Organization-Level Template:
From the Management Menu on the left side of the screen, select Configuration.
Then, select Inspection Templates.
If you cannot see the Management Menu, please contact your company administrator.
Select Details next to the template you wish to view.
Important Note: Changes made to an Organization-Level Template will only affect future inspections and will not impact inspections already underway.
When viewing a template, you will see Question Sets on the left panel.
Question Sets correspond to places on a property: Units, Rooms, Buildings, Building Areas, Site Areas, or Administrative Categories.
Note: For any site areas to appear on an inspection, they must be configured on the property.
Click a Question Set to see the Question Viewer.
The Question Viewer will show all the questions within a Question Set
Question-level settings are visible for each question
All answers are visible for each question
All answer-level settings are visible, including defaults, photo requirements, comment requirements, costs, and values
Step 3: Edit Templates
To modify question and answer settings, click "Revise Question Set."
For further customization, you can:
Select the radio button/option button to set a default answer.
Click the corresponding checkbox to require photos or comments.
Use the question-level requirements to require a question to be completed, or require a photo or comment, regardless of the selected answer
Creating a New Question
Click "Add Question."
Name the question, select the question type, and add answers if needed.
Click "Save."
Note: For adding questions to an "In Progress Due Diligence," refer to the instructions below.
Ordering Questions
Click "Order Questions."
Drag and drop questions into the desired order.
Click "Save Order."
Deleting a Question
Edit the question you wish to delete.
Click "Delete Question."
To add or edit Costs or Values within an inspection, click Edit Costs/Values
Make changes to any of the values or costs, then click Update
After making any changes to the Question Set, publish your changes to ensure changes are in place for future inspections
Step 4: Viewing and Editing Inspection Templates
To access and modify an Inspection Template:
Navigate to "Inspections" under the "Due Diligence" section.
From the Inspection Menu, select "Edit Template."
Important Considerations for Template Changes:
Due Diligence Inspections can be modified even after creation.
Publishing Question Sets is not required after an Inspection Template is modified.
Inspectors need to refresh the inspection in their mobile app to see any changes.
If new questions are added to the template, they must also be selected for the specific inspection.
Adding New Questions to an Inspection:
After adding questions to the template, click the "Edit" button for the relevant inspection.
In the "Template Info" section, click "Update" to view the available questions for the inspection.
Locate and select the newly added questions in the list, then click "Save."
Do not uncheck existing questions during this step.
Inspectors will need to refresh the inspection within their mobile app to see these changes. An internet connection is required for this step.
FAQ
Can all users edit inspections and templates?
Users with Admin permissions can edit inspections and templates.
When can changes be made to Due Diligence Inspections?
Changes can be made at any time after the inspection is created.
How are changes made to Enterprise Inspections?
Making changes to a Company Level Template will update future versions of the inspection.
