Asset IDs

This Help Article will provide users with information about Asset IDs that are used on Assets within SightPlan.

SightPlan allows you to store assets within our application. This Help Article will guide users on how to best utilize Asset IDs to identify assets within SightPlan.

Assets are available for all Work Pro users and can be enabled by reaching

out to the Help Team at help@sightplan.com. If you do not currently have the Work Pro subscription, please feel free to chat with the Help Team, and we can work to set up a call with your Account Manager.


What is an Asset ID?

An Asset ID is a unique 8 character code that may include both numbers and letters. By affixing an Asset ID tag that includes both the ID code and a QR code, users can quickly identify assets in the field.

How to link an Asset ID to an Asset

On SightPlan Web:

  • If the Asset already has an ID associated with it, you may edit the asset on the web to type the Asset ID on the Asset Details page.

  • Be sure that the physical asset has a matching Asset ID tag affixed to it in order to take advantage of all the Asset ID features.

On SightPlan Mobile:

  • After an Asset ID tag has been placed on the asset, edit the asset using your mobile device.

  • During the edit, you may type the Asset ID, or use your device's camera to scan the QR code on the Asset ID tag.

Note:

  • Asset IDs are unique and can only be assigned to a single asset.

Using Asset IDs

  • Because Asset IDs are unique, you can search for an asset on web or mobile by its Asset ID.

  • When on mobile, you may also scan the Asset ID tag. This is the fastest way to view Asset Details after the Asset ID has been linked.

  • Can I bulk import assets with existing Asset IDs?

    • Yes! We now offer the ability for assets to be added in bulk by providing you with a template to fill out and submit to help@sightplan.com.
